There are over 4000 species of spiders in California.   They are found in crawl spaces, cracks of decks and other damp parts of buildings. Others like dry, warm areas such as subfloor air vents, upper corners of rooms and attics. They hide in dark areas. Spiders can also parachute in on webs and create a nesting point anywhere on or around your home or business.
